Planning Talent & Organizational Shifts Without Business Disruption
A top-tier professional services firm, intensely focused on achieving ambitious growth goals, faced a looming operational risk: a cohort of longtime, high-value employees managing mission-critical processes were planning imminent retirement. The firm urgently needed to gain a precise understanding of their complex roles, nuanced responsibilities, and how those mapped against industry-standard job descriptions and modern career paths.
The Opportunity
Statement Co. had a strategic, high-priority opportunity to provide an in-depth assessment, design a continuity strategy, and plan an execution path for supporting these key individuals through their major life and career transitions. The ultimate goal was to ensure the continued success and operational stability of the firm with zero business disruption.
What We Delivered
In an intensive 12-week fractional leadership engagement, we delivered a foundational strategy to secure the firm's future talent pipeline:
Conducted a Critical Current State Assessment: We performed a rigorous review of existing job descriptions and conducted in-depth, confidential interviews with eight pivotal employees and their managers to fully capture their roles. The assessment meticulously documented current, often undocumented, responsibilities, mapping them back to both existing internal job codes and recognized industry-standard capabilities, core competencies, modern job titles, and standardized job descriptions.
Designed a Strategic Path Forward: We engineered a prescriptive, multi-faceted approach complete with recommended modern job titles and descriptions, clearly defined career paths, and necessary organizational alignment models to drive effective internal calibration conversations.
Developed a Continuity Implementation Plan: Based on the validated strategy, we designed a robust change adoption plan specifically tailored for these sensitive transitions, including a framework for proposed pulse check surveys to monitor and ensure a consistently positive employee experience throughout the transition period.
What Made a Statement
Our engagement uncovered a significant, immediate opportunity for enhanced alignment and proactive collaboration among internal teams. This discovery became the foundation for designing the 'team of the future', one strategically aligned with the firm's enterprise growth goals. The client team concluded the engagement fully equipped with the necessary tools to facilitate critical internal conversations and, most importantly, proactively prepare for key retirements by defining modern roles that are precisely mapped to the organization's strategic objectives and competitive industry standards.
